The 150-C30NBR is a Smart Motor Controller (SMC) that is part of the SMC-3 Solid-State motor controllers. The SMC-3
product category is part of a bigger motor controller product family which includes SMC Flex and SMC 50 motor
controllers. The SMC-3 is particularly catered to serve simpler soft-starting requirements however, the embedded
features of the 150-C30NBR, being part of the SMC-3, is more comprehensive compared to other soft-starter brands.
Specifically, the 150-C30NBR SMC-3 Smart Motor Controller is capable of implementing Soft Start, Kickstart, Current
Limiting, Coast to stop, and Soft-stop. These features are sufficient to protect the partner motor from the destructive
effect of mechanical stress due to sudden Start and Stop actions as well limit inrush current which contributes to lower
energy consumption, making the control system more efficient.
Product Applications
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): Used to drive chiller units, condenser fans, industrial cooling towers,
and air compressors. The soft start function can reduce pipeline pressure oscillations (water hammer effect) during startup.
Water treatment and pumping stations: Widely used in centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, and booster pumping
stations. Through soft start and soft stop (Soft Stop) modes, pressure fluctuations during pump shutdown can be
eliminated, protecting the pipeline system.
Logistics and material transportation: Used to drive belt conveyors, heavy elevators, and pallet machines. It can
achieve smooth acceleration and prevent goods from tipping on the conveyor belt or mechanical chain wear.
Resources and heavy industry: In mining, metallurgy, and construction materials industries, it is used to drive
crushers, grinding mills, vibrating screens, and mixers. Its "kickstart" mode can provide an initial pulse for high-friction
loads to complete startup.
