1768-PA3 Description

The 1768-PA3 is a power supply module.  It is a dual-input power supply whose primary purpose is to provide 

power through the backplane.  This power supply operates at 85 - 265VAC or 108 -132VDC.  Before powering up 

the system, install controller in the same bank as the power supply.  To avoid issues, never install a 1769 power 

supply to a backplane.
The 1768-PA3 module has an open-type enclosure and it can be mounted using DIN rail or panel mount.  LED status 

indicators let the user monitor the module’s current state in real time.  The 1768-PA3 can be from Series A or B and 

has a wiring category of 1 for the power ports.  Its compatible wire sizes are 14 to 22 AWG stranded or solid copper 

wire rated at 167 degrees Fahrenheit with a maximum isolation of 1.2 millimeters.  The 1768-PA3 has an internal 

overcurrent protection due to the soldered non-replaceable fuse.  It also comes with a user-supplied maximum 

overcurrent protection of 15 Amps and its typical efficiency rate is 75%, and a maximum input power of 120 VA 

or 120 W.  The 1768-PA3’s maximum inrush current is 50 Amps at 85 to 132 Volts AC and 80 Amps at 195 to 265 

Volts AC while its power dissipation is 30 W.
